When we married, Matthew and I immediately felt the call to adopt. We knew that was what we were brought together for, so we set to work. Home studies - which we had to repeat twice, foster care approval, fire inspections, home visits....I could go on and on. After almost four years and two heartbreaking failed adoptions, we have been blessed enough to be chosen to adopt a little Miracle - due November 10th! We were ready and thought everything was in place to go smoothly, but we have just learned that there have been unforeseen circumstances with the birth family that have increased our adoption expenses. A Lot. It puts us in the position to either walk away, losing the money we have invested already, or come up with close to 10,000 dollars.(see updates)Unfortunately, because the baby is due so soon, they are asking that we pay the balance within two weeks. We are going to try and get them to give us more time, but I don't know if they will. This does not include our travel expenses, or lodging for when we are required to stay in the baby's home state for several weeks while our adoption is approved by North Carolina. It is not something we would normally ever consider doing, but we need to ask for your help. It is tearing us apart to know that the baby we were sure was going to be ours might be out of our reach now. Please consider donating generously, or any amount you can spare.
